visual identity (not realised)
The Lausitz Festival is an artistically overlapping and international festival to be established in the borders of Lausitz in the middle of Europe at the interface between Western and Eastern Europe. It is essential to incorporate the idea of “structural change in a region”, that is to say the exit from coal energy production towards a digitized world. The Lausitz Festival should and will be developed as a festival with character traits, identity and image. (Initial situation from the briefing)
concept 1
Recognize the old world, entering into the uncertainty
Lausitz is a region that has long been a high dependence on coal. The lignite mining is to this day clearly recognizable in the landscape. Lausitz deals with this past innovatively and new landscapes and ideas emerge from it.
concept 2
Threshold spell
The idea of the “in between” plays a fundamental role for the Lausitz Festival. The transition from yesterday to tomorrow as a kind of central space is crucial here. This thought is carried out with a concise design element, that allows for complex interpretations, reproduced.
